Social Psychology W2 P3

My reaction to this part of the course was a bit of self reflection. Upon hearing all of the things that people do when it comes to self serving biases or self control, I realized that I do the same things and that I know people who do them too. People tend to display their self serving bias without realizing it, but looking back I know that I totally question negative things while believing positive ones. Optimism and our outlook are greatly affected by our "self"; I'm a pretty optimistic person, so I bet that I do these things all the time without realizing. All in all, I found this part fascinating because it shone a light on my own behaviors, and made me more self aware.

I would like to learn more about the origins of the self; which parts of your life or you actions most influence the self? Although it's pretty difficult information to pin down, I would also like to know how someone could better understand the "self" in terms of controlling their self serving bias and the like. Could a person keep that in check while still maintaining a sunny outlook?

    1. It helps put everything I'm learning into a more personal lens, and totally adds to the credibility of the course. If I see it in myself, then it's probably accurate overall.
