Ted Talk One W9 P3

I honestly wasn’t sure how well this ted talk would fit into my theme, but it works better than I expected. I know hearing about climate change makes me want to avoid the issue altogether, and I now feel a bit guilty about it. However, this gave me a better understanding of the issue I want to present on; the way that the information about climate change is being presented to the public isn’t reaching the audiences it needs to, and this can be changed with a little intel on social psychology. While the idea obviously isn’t to manipulate people into changing (although this method has been proved effective by people like Snorkel Bob). If the data about climate change was presented in a factual yet persuasive way, and in a way that motivated hope for the future, chances are we could get a lot more people behind the movement.

My question for this part of the learning is one that I will get to on my own: What is the best method to use social strategies to spread the word about Climate Change in an uplifting yet motivating way?

    1. While climate change is obviously a depressing subject, I feel that it needs to be presented in a way that makes people want to act; nothing is going to get done without people wanting to help. That being said, I feel like manipulating pathos to make people feel bad; these advertisements shouldn't be built on lies or manipulation of the viewer's feelings.
