-It is hard to judge aggression without involving alcohol. More often than not, alcohol isn’t a direct cause of aggression, but by making the user more aware of their immediate environmental cues, it makes them more likely to lash out.
-Agression is thought to be influenced by two things: learning and desensitizing. If a person is in a violent situation often, or is exposed to violence as the only solution to a problem, it is likely that this person will become quite aggressive themselves. On the other hand, people who are exposed to a lot of violence or aggression may become desensitized, and may become violent without fully realizing it; they just think that it is the norm.
-People also like to copy aggressive behaviors that they see in the media. Unfortunately, this is the case with suicides (for example, the time post Thirteen Reasons Why), School shootings, and more. This comes along with a want for attention; in the case of school shooters, they know that shootings will bring them attention, so they imitate the actions of others to gain attention.
-Another reason that people may behave aggressively is because of their mindset. People that view things through a lens of mistrust or negativity are more likely to act violent to things they simply misinterpret as acts of violence.
-It is thought that, in crowds, people tend to lose themselves and may act violently. Of course, there are a large number of riots and such to back this up. However, there are plenty of spontaneous group efforts that proved to be helpful as well. It’s simply a case of humans being easily influenced, and quite literally following the crowd. If other people are being violent, one is more likely to join in.
-People who are ostracized from a group, and who have grown used to this, are also more likely to become violent. While this too has to do with mindset, it also is paired with an evolutionary response of fear of rejection; when long ago, this would have meant death.
