Ted Talk Two W10 P3

The ways that we can persuade people to do things has already been discussed in the course, but with the topic of encouraging global change, I felt that the topic of asking for help would be beneficial to my thesis. I found it interesting that the strategies used in this Ted Talk were entirely different than the ones suggested in the modules. It made me think that there are ways to combine these two strategies without the typical manipulation of media advertising. If anything, the modules can also explain why this way of asking for help works, especially through consistency or social validation, both of which are things that people like.

My question for this part of the learning is: What is the best way to ask a wide audience for help, appeal to a wide audience, and motivate a majority of people to get up and help?

  1. Great question. Were you able to find any answers yet in your research?

  2. Totally! The next Ted Talk that I found pretty much answers this (even though it totally goes off the wall at the end). It goes over appealing to wide audiences through finding different issues that have similar origins that different groups want to fight for.
